  • Where are you from?
Raised first in the wind swept central north island Army base at Waiouru, then at other army bases around New Zealand, I am at heart a small town boy.

  • What did you do before founding photonewzealand?
With no bright ideas what to do when leaving school, I took the advice of my careers advisor and studied accountancy (yawn!). I first worked for a number of large accounting firms and corporates in NZ and the UK for about 9 years before deciding to leave to chase a dream of being a photographer. I figured out pretty quickly (some would say not quickly enough) that I was at best an ‘average’ photographer. So I turned my attention to the business of photography. Photonewzealand was ‘born’ in 2000 with the goal of creating a distribution channel for NZ photographers, to compete against the rising tide of international stock becoming more easily accessible to NZ clients. 16 years on, we’re still here – the tide is still rising (whoever thought a website would be saying it had 50 million images!) and the business is no less challenging.

  • Do you have any hobbies? / What do you do in your spare time?
I'm definitely enjoying the low stress lifestyle of the Tasman region: mountain bike ridding, fishing, jumping off the Mapua Warf, and spending time away with my lovely wife Sue and our two children (Lucy and Max).

  • What’s your favourite place in New Zealand and why?
    Abel Tasman. Speaks for itself.

  • Fun fact about you?
    I can juggle pretty well.

  • Where are you from?
I'm from a small paradise place called the Basque Country (in France) and come from a large family of 5 kids. I've lived and travelled to many places (incl. Ireland, Greece, Austria) and have decided to settle in New Zealand in May 2014. So far, so good :)

  • What did you do before joining photonewzealand?
Seems like I've had many lives... I first started working in the web/music industry, for the first crowdfunding music record label. After a few years, the company had to close down and I realised that music was unfortunately not going to pay for the bills. I got the opportunity to work at Oracle (big tech company) in Ireland and shortly after to Google (another big tech company). After a few years of "sweat and tears" I decided to quit and take a break to spend a bit more time with my family. When I was finally ready to move on, I booked a 1-way ticket to New Zealand. I first worked at OMD, media agency in Auckland. In April 2015, I moved to Nelson (yes, there is man involved) and since have been enjoying the lifestyle (and the sunny days) of the Nelson / Tasman region.

  • Do you have any hobbies? / What do you do in your spare time?
Music was my first love and will probably always be. But I love arts & crafts, photography, baking & cooking, renovating furnitures...

  • What’s your favourite place in New Zealand and why?
Wharariki beach, Mutton Cove and Arthur's pass. Two iconic New Zealand locations that hold a very special place in my heart.

  • Fun fact about you?
I once was the "PA for 1-Day" of Steve Lukather (lead guitarist / singer of the famous rock band TOTO).

  • Where are you from?
I was born in Dunedin, after my parents had immigrated to New Zealand from England that year.

  • What did you do before joining photonewzealand?
I am a Registered Nurse and have recently taken a break from this.

  • Do you have any hobbies? / What do you do in your spare time?
I love the outdoors and keeping fit. I'm enjoying our National Parks on my doorstep. Also family camping time in our caravan "Ted".

  • What’s your favourite place in New Zealand and why?
Central Otago for it's natural beauty. I love the colours in Autumn.

  • Fun fact about you?
I am in a Dunedin Study which has followed the lives of 1037 babies born between April 1972 and March 1973 at Queen Mary Maternity Hospital, Dunedin. The study is now in it's fifth decade!

  • Where are you from?
I grew up in Nelson but was born in a small town called Eketahuna.

  • What did you do before joining photonewzealand?
I was a stay at home mum on maternity leave. Before that I worked for a private medical practice as Office Manager. Prior to moving back to NZ I was Product Manager for a ski travel company in Sydney.

  • Do you have any hobbies?  What do you do in your spare time?
I love snow skiing in the winter (well teaching the kids at the moment so not much skiing) and boating in the Marlborough Sounds.  I also like dance fitness. Otherwise I am just busy with 3 girls so not a lot of spare time!

  • What’s your favourite place in New Zealand and why?
Marlborough Sounds for the boating and beauty.

  • Fun fact about you?
I have no big toe nails.
